The Quarterdeck Restaurant occupies a section of the Original Breakwater Prison (in 1860) and is known as the Good Conduct Ward. The 80-seater restaurant is relaxed yet elegant, and uniquely housed in the historic Old Convict Station building.
The beautifully restored national monument with its rich history, is the perfect setting to sample legendary breakfasts or sumptuous buffets, comprehensive menus, and traditional Cape Malay dishes. A selection of fine wines, including the best the Cape has to offer are the ideal complement to your meal.
Light meals and snacks are served on the terrace daily, while the cocktail bar is open for refreshments from noon till late. A 24-hour room service option is also available.

By Car:
From the airport:
- Follow the road and signs towards the N2 motorway / Cape Town.
- Follow the N2, signposted Eastern Blvd, towards Cape Town.
- Keep following the N2 towards Cape Town. The highway will split, so keep to your right, following the signs: M6 Seapoint/ Waterfront towards Cape Town.
- When entering Cape Town, cross over the first set of traffic lights. Keep in the right-hand lane.
- Turn right at the 2nd traffic lights, signposted Sea Point.
- Follow the road over the bridge. Turn right at the first traffic light into Portswood Road.
- Follow the road almost to the end. The Portswood Hotel will be located on your right-hand side.
Parking:
Underground parking for hotel guests is provided in the Portswood Square Parking Garage. (Entrance in Portswood Road between the Commodore and Portswood Hotels).
